We hear this a lot and it comes down to the climate. Standard outdoor cushions are designed for a northern European summer of roughly 1,800 sunshine hours a year. On the Spanish coast, whether that's the Costa Blanca, Costa del Sol or Costa Brava, you're quickly looking at 1,000 hours more. Regular fabrics simply can't keep up: colours fade, the fabric weakens, and after one season everything looks tired.

This is a distinction most people only discover after something has gone wrong. Water-repellent means raindrops roll off the surface, great for a shower, but not enough for a sun lounger cushion that sits next to the pool or on a terrace on the Spanish coast every day. Once pool water works its way into the fabric, the inside gets damp, the foam starts to mould and the smell follows quickly.

Yes, absolutely. Alongside the widely used 60 x 180 cm size, Interior Nomad makes sunbed cushions in any size you need. Sunloungers and sun beds on the Spanish coast often have unusual dimensions that you simply won't find as a standard size in most online shops. A cushion that's even slightly too small or too large never sits right, wears less well and never really looks the good either.

Yes, you really will, and it all comes down to the foam. A cushion of 3 or 4 centimeters is fine if you have a comfortable sunlounger and just want a little extra softness now and then. But anyone spending hours outside at the pool or on a terrace in Spain will quickly find that a cushion that's too thin lets you feel the frame of the sunlounger underneath. That's not quite the Mediterranean lounging experience you had in mind.
We recommend a thickness of 6, 8 or 12 centimeters for everyday use on the Spanish coast, available in our cushion models WABI, PURE and BOLD. Especially the BOLD cushion in Comfort fabric is designed exactly for this: soft, generous and deeply comfortable, it feels like a bed on top of a sun bed. For pool use we recommend the PURE cushion, just a bit thinner but with the PERFOMANCE fabric, with the option of quick-dry foam so you're never sitting on a wet cushion when you come back for more. When in doubt: thicker is always better than thinner.

And our Performance fabric, especially when combined with quick-dry foam, is the most low-maintenance of all waterproof, mould-resistant and chlorine-proof. Go for Comfort. Softer, cooler and more pleasant for long hours of lying in the shade or partial shade. Anyone spending hours reading, lunching or simply doing nothing on their Spanish terrace wants maximum softness and a fabric that doesn't feel too warm in the afternoon heat.
Close to the sea; Costa Brava, Costa Blanca, Costa del Sol
Salt and wind are the biggest enemies of outdoor cushions on the Spanish coast. Our Coastal Proof fabric is developed specifically for these conditions: UV-resistant, colorfast and able to handle salty sea air. Rinse the cushions occasionally with fresh water and they'll last for years.
